    Description

    Main Street - Wakefield, Massachusetts
This photograph was identified by the signage that appears on one of the storefronts, J.W. Poland & Co.  I was able to link this business to Wakefield.  The city directory from the 1890s identified the location as the Gould Building or 412 Main Street.
Starting from the left the businesses include a leather findings shop, a jeweler with a pocket watch trade sign, J.W. Poland & Co., and a laundry business.  There's a penny-farthing bicycle resting on the tree to the left.
The card the photo is mounted to measures 14" x 11" and the photo is 9 3/8" x 7 5/8".  The card has some obvious wear and damage, including missing areas.  The photo has overall staining.  Please see the images provided, as they're part of the description.
