    Description

Here is an original cover print of Puck Magazine dated March 30, 1898 that measures approx. 10 1/2" by 14 1/2".  Depicted is a Native American Indian hoisting an Anti-Immigration Act like a club in front of a quivering 1620 European settler.  It is entitled:  WHERE WOULD WE BE?  If the Real Americans had held Lodge's View of Immigration there would be no Lodge Bill now - nor anything else.
This references MA Senator Republican Henry Cabot Lodge who was a promoter of anti-immigration legislation.  The artist's initila K. appears in the bottom right corner.  Guaranteed original to the Puck issue earlier noted.  The condition is good with toning around its edges and a small crescent-shaped hole seen in the upper left quadrant.  The reverse side has comments and cartoons and you can see some water marks near the top.  The front has such lighter marks at its top as well but despite these shortcomings this will frame up nicely which I'll leave up to you.  Very suitable for framing.  A fascinating commentary and glimpse of the immigration issue in this country over 130 years ago.  Thanks for looking at this auction.
