Completely made by hand of thick softened Cow Leather, tanned the old fashioned way without modern acids. The pack or 'Bag' design has been in use for centuries in Europe and found its way here in the Colonies. Measures about 20x8 with a 1 3/4 wide strap secured with an appropriate period iron buckle, strap will fit even the hardiest! And having a strap of this width is far more comfortable and wont dig into you as narrow slings do. It's closure tie is made of genuine buff leather with a very thick retainer in the shape of a heart to keep it snug closed, at the end of the buff tie is extra linen cording wound and secured like a finial on a ships rope. It's usage ranges from a day bag or a weeks worth of trekking. The main items 18th Century Reenactors or Period Hunters carry ranges from dried foodstuffs like meat, parched corn, rice, flour, cornmeal, oats, spices and chocolate just to name a few. Personal items along with fire starting equip, extra powder and shot, eating tools and whatever can be used for more than one purpose, they carried it. As stated, completely hand stitched with a heavy welt between the halves for the best of tightness and strength, naturel linen cord waxed as its being stitched secures the entire pack ,sling and buckle.
