    Description

This is the diary of woman who worked in an office in Washington DC in 1919.  It has entries which are primarily about going to work, doing her work, going to the movies or out to dinner with friends, etc.  On January 3, 1919 there is an entry which reads "Saw the Suffragettes abused by men in front of the White House"  followed by "got a letter from Vida Williamson..."  Not much concern about the women who were abused.  There is another entry on January 31 "On my way home saw two Suffragettes arrested."  She then goes on about going shopping with no outrage or concern about the Suffragettes!   On January 8 she had half a day off because of  Teddy Roosevelt and went to the movie of Little Women and the ad for that movie is glued in the diary.   She stopped writing in the diary in  April.  At the back are lists of her expenditures for January and February.  The diary has 222 pages and at the back are calendars for 1918 and 1920.  At the front is the 1919 calendar.  She was evidently born on March 14 1896.
