    BMW has long been known for their
    smooth and dependable road machines.
    Because of their niche with road touring,
    we seldom see a fully customized BMW.
    But Gordon McChesney thought he
    wanted more in his BMW than an ordi-
    nary asphalt burner.
    Gordon started to work on his Bava-
    rian horizontal twin by completely dis-
    assembling the machine. At this point, all
    chromeable parts were sent to the plat-
    ers. Some items were returned to the
    platers as many as three times to get a
    flawless finish.
    The engine has been left stock to
    retain the BMW dependability. The muf-
    flers were the only changes in the ex-
    haust system Both aluminum rims were
    polished after chroming the wheel parts
    The original leading link front suspen-
    sion was discarded for telescopic forks.
    The new forks are from a Harley David-
    son Duro Glide. They have been ex-
    tended 6 'A inches by lengthening both
    the inner and outer tubes. The lower fork
    crown was inverted and a stem made to
    mount the assembly in'the BMW head-
    stock and bearings. Naturally chrome
    was added to set off the finish.
    All of the bolt-on items have been
    chromed, if possible, and then rubber
    mounted. The gas tank, fender, sissy bar...
