Factory drag racer Tony Nicosia failed in his bid for a record on
the Kawasaki Complex 750 A Stock Machine.
The Atco Dragway hosted the
American Motorcycle Drag Racing
Association All-Star Championships.
Two hundred competitors thrashed it
out for their share of the ,500 in
cash awards and additional special
bonuses.
Record-breaking action was the
order of the day as thirteen National
marks fell by the wayside. Among the
noteworthy efforts was the AA/F
■record blasted by Larry Welch on
Routt's Double Triumph He lowered
the mark to S.81. Also, the B/A
Sportster of Libby, Christenson and
Hornstein recorded a 10.87 blast to
enter the books; the Chiaccio
Motors-sponsored Honda C/A piloted
by Tony Mazziotto was clocked at
10.98. Another bike from Chiaccio's
shop, ridden by John Trezona,
popped the E/A record down to an
11.92. Ron Wade with his 350
Honda smashed the G/A record with
The final round action in "Top
Fuel Eliminator” saw Larry Welch
destroy A! Charlier with a
record-breaking 8.81 blast.
a 12.90 at 102 mph; Steve Parker
lowered his CC/SS record to a 1 2.66
on a Harley and Mike Gartner on the
D&A Kawasaki 500 set the B/S mark
at 12.50.
Supercharged eliminator action in
the Top Fuel category found Al Char-
lier on his big inch Sportster besting
National record holder John
Trezona pilots the Chiaccio
Motors El Altered to runner-up in
the Competition Eliminator
category...
