    Description

    Ms. Varian’s fame was still growing in 1880 when she succumbed to an unknown illness aboard a ship while returning to the United States after a tour of Europe. She was only 24 years old. Photo by Ross. It has been suggested on eBay that this is Alex Ross, the well known photographer of Native Americans in Canada during the 1800s. I really wouldn’t know. Photo is about 6 1/2 inches by 4 1/4.
    CONDITION: There is expected aged wear, soiling, yellowing and even a bit of foxing.
