Description
The provenance, or history,of this particular 70 year-old German stage musical Souvenir Program:
While living in Germany for 33 years,
my parents were fortunate enough to attend
several German versions of some very popular stage musical productions.
This particular performance in the 1950's featured a German cast version of
"Porgy And Bess".
The Program's vibrant and colorful front cover artwork is by Jean Cheval.
There is also a reproduced 1953 White House letter sent by
President Dwight D. Eisenhower to producer Blevins Davis shown inside the front cover.
The Program is written entirely in German, contains 16 clean and unmarked pages,
measures approximately 12 1/2" tall x 9 1/2" wide,
and contains many photos and bios of the leads and the show's creators
plus three vintage black & white production photos.
It is in exceptionally nice condition with normal wear for it's age,
and would make a very unique piece of musical history from behind the
Iron Curtain during the Cold War Era.
