weights in a quarter sawn oak box.
Dr. Samuel J. Waggaman (1843-1913) served in the Confederate Army (1861-1865) under John Mosby in the 43rd Virginia Cavalry Battalion, also known as Mosby's Rangers. Samuel Waggaman was one of the founders the National College of Pharmacy, a professor at Georgetown in Washington, D. C. and author of "A compendium of botanic materia medica for use of students in medicine and pharmacy" He was also was the husband of American writer/author Mary Theresa Waggaman.
