FRANK GROUARD - CHIEF OF SCOUTS - Sioux War 1876
5" X 8" Boudoir Cabinet Photo of Frank Grouard - Chief of Scouts for General Crook. (Center of photo).  He was in major battles in 1876 with the Sioux.  In the early years he was found abandoned by the Crows who robbed him and found by the Sioux.  He was adopted as a brother by Chief Sitting Bull.  He was probably accepted by them as an Indian because of his Polynesian features.  In photo from left to right - J.M. McDonald, Good Lance, Big Talk (Frank Gerard - misidentified), Kicking Bear, Two Strikes, Maj. Burke & Short Bull.  This photo was taken at Wounded Knee.
Comes with book THE LIFE & ADVENTURES OF FRANK GROUARD By Joe Barthe in 1894.  For a complete history of Frank Grouard see Wikipedia - 3 pages.
