According to Malossi these springs fit ALL Tmax 500:  2001 - 2011
These are one of the best bang-for-buck mods you can do for your Tmax.  The stock clutch engagement is around 2200 rpm.  When you raise the engagement you practically make your bike more powerful, because it then spends less time under that part of the power curve that exists at those lower rpms.  This kit includes 3 sets of uprated springs, engagements are roughly around 2500, 2700, and 2900rpm.
An example:
If you look at dyno charts for the stock Tmax 500 you'll see that around 2200rpm you're getting under 5hp.  By around 2700rpm you're getting around 13hp.  It's a significant difference.
The difficulty with a centrifugal clutch is that the engagement is set.  One cannot slip the clutch to give a higher engagement point to take off with more power.  Any bike with a centrifugal clutch is limited this way.  Hence, with stock springs the bike will only ever take off with at most 5hp on tap.  If you use the stiffest springs you take off with at least 8 more hp on tap.  It's a dramatic difference that is felt everytime you take off from a stop AND everytime you are anywhere near the engagement rpm, which includes cornering in urban environments.  I used both the 2700 and 2900 springs, and there were zero negative effects on driveability, slow speed navigating was perfectly fine, not like you were driving around with a snatchy, high engagement clutch.
By the way, clutch engagement is an aspect that is separate from variator tuning.  You can tune the variator to have high shift points, but any effect of the variator will still only occur after the clutch engages.  So, the variator can certainly be limited by the clutch when it comes to takeoff.
