    Description

Guaranteed original. From the estate of former Virginia Governor Almond's nephew in Richmond Virginia. Excellent condition with absolutely no issues. A superb addition to your collection!
Fred O. Seibel (1886-1968) worked as an editorial cartoonist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch from 1926 until 1968.
He was among the first members of the National Cartoonists Society formed in May 1946. His work was widely reprinted in other newspapers and in government and history textbooks. His cartoons were exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Chicago Art Institute and in a one-man show at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
    James Lindsay Almond Jr.
(June 15, 1898 – April 15, 1986) was a United States federal judge and politician and dedicated segregationist. He served as the 58th Governor of Virginia from 1958 until 1962, and was the last governor of Virginia to have been born in the 19th century.
This work was dedicated to Governor Almond and depicts his political battles with Senator Harry F. Byrd and others. Frankly, I'm surprised that the Confederate flag wasn't drawn over the state capitol building.
Currently framed, but I suggest shipping it unframed to protect it from possible broken glass damage. I'll leave it framed for local pickup.
    Measures approximately 18" x 15" unframed. 20 x 16 1/2" framed.
This even has an artist alteration. See the close-ups of the governor.
    See photos for best description.
