Description
This listing is for a reproduction 18th Century men's wool waistcoat. The waistcoat is made from black wool broadcloth and bears a lightweight white linen lining. It has a 1770's cut with a shorter body, narrow, curved pocket flaps with decorative buttons underneath and a ten-button front, the latter of which have horn moulds and are covered in the same black wool as the rest of the waistcoat. It is fully lined in white linen with matching linen pocket bags and pocket flap linings. This waistcoat is 100% hand-sewn by me with black and white linen thread and hand-worked buttonholes with silk buttonhole twist.
The waistcoat is in new condition, and aside from being worn for a couple of photos, has not been used. I accidentally made it a bit too short for myself and am going to replace it with a better-fitting one. Likewise, it has no rips, holes, tears, stains, missing or damaged buttons, etc.
I have a 40" chest and 32" waist with 18" shoulders. The waistcoat is fitted in my chest and shoulders, but is a bit loose in the waist. With the height taken into account, this waistcoat would be ideal for a man of 5'8" - 5'11" with a 40" chest, 32"-34" waist and 18" shoulders.
Measurements are as follow:
Across chest, pit to pit, buttoned, laid flat: 20"
Across waist, buttoned, laid flat: 18.5"
Shoulders, hem to hem, across back: 16"
Overall length, collar hem to bottom hem, in back: 25"
