This item is an AUTOGRAPHED,
SIGNED book titled, “At Your Own Risk, An American Chronicle of Crisis and Captivity
in the Middle East“, written by Tom and Jean Sutherland (Tom was held captive
for 6 ½ years by the Islamic Jihad in Beirut). The book has a copyright date of
1996 and is not a stated book club edition and is not ex-library. The book
comes with the original dust jacket.
The book is personalized and
signed by Tom Sutherland, with an “and Jean” signed by Jean on an inside page.
As I did not get this autograph in person, I can not 100% verify its’
authenticity. However, after researching on the Internet and comparing the
autograph, I personally feel 100% confidant that the autograph is authentic.
The condition of the UNCLIPPED
dust jacket is excellent with great front cover color and only showing minor
wear and tear. The book itself is also in excellent condition with tight and
secure binding, clean pages, and no writings or markings.
Tom Sutherland (who passed away
in 2016) was captured on June 9, 1985 by Shiite Hezbollah terrorists taking a
stand against US military forces in Lebanon. He was finally released, after 6 ½
years in captivity, on November 18, 1991.
