19TH CENTURY WALNUT AND IRON DECIMAL SCALEVienna, circa mid-to-late 19th century

An attractive and beautifully worn architectural decimal scale, these were originally designed in Germany for use in shops, but the present model was made by a manufacturer in Vienna, Austria and retains the original gilded maker plaque. It features a dense walnut body with dovetailed front corners and the upright structure is also locked into the lower base with an oversized dovetail. All iron work on it is hand hammered and each component is made by hand. A delightful piece in beautifully preserved condition!

Lacking the weighing platform; inactive pest damage throughout; corners with some losses; old surface with lovely patina, scuffs and scars throughout.
