    Description

From the estate of an Arkansas politician, a flyer for a meeting on April 20, 1948 earnestly requesting attendance to hear speakers from 11 counties and Gov. Ben Laney on opposing (President Truman's) Civil Rights Program. About 10" x 7".
President Truman's program provided Federal protection against lynching, protected the right to vote, prevented discrimination in employment, and more. Ben Laney was a top choice for the states rights Dixiecrats nomination for President but withdrew and opened the way for Strom Thurmond.
Excellent condition. An important piece of civil rights history and a superb addition to any collection. Displays really well.
