Welcome toAntiques & Moore!
This listing is for a lovely Wedgwood Fairyland Dragon lustre octagonal shaped bowl, c. 1920's. The Fairyland lustre decoration was designed by Susannah Margaretta "Daisy" Makeig-Jones (1881-1945) with designs expanding to include the dragon lustre motif. The exterior of the bowl is a deep mottled blue color with three dragons chasing flaming pearls painted in gold gilt. The outside upper edge is painted in a gold gilt Greek Key design. The interior of the bowl has a wide decorative band with gilt embellishment and a dragon with three large "pearls" in the center on a pearlized lustre background. Bowl is marked with a gilt printed stamp of the Wedgwood trademark Portland vase with "Wedgwood, Made in England" printed below. Also marked "Z4829". The Fairyland lustre designs were produced from 1915-1932.
Measures 3 1/8" high and 6 3/8" wide (flat side to flat side). Weighs 13 ounces.
This nice bowl is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting minimal, if any, signs of wear. There are a couple of no-harm color drips under the glaze on the inside of the bowl that occurred during production.
