Metal 1940 - Beautifully Restored
Fully Functional
This is a working and beautifully restored Model 302
metal desk set.  Prior to WW2 the phones were metal.
During the war and after, the phones were made of
thermoplastic.
It has matching numbers dated 1940 on the dial, body and
induction coil.
Many hours of time went into restoring this telephone. It was
disassembled and each component both outside and inside of
the phone right down to the smallest screw was hand cleaned
and polished.   The phone has been fully tested, rings nicely
and has excellent transmission and reception.
The dial was disassembled, cleaned, lightly oiled and checked
for
calibration and works nicely.  The dial number plate
has a new overlay that has nice crisp numbers.
The finger stop was polished to a shine on a buffing
wheel.
The dial finger wheel is the somewhat rare steel type, most
are made of lighter aluminum.  It was sanded down to
metal and repainted.
The F1 type handset was
buffed to a nice shine and is in
excellent condition.
The Metal body was sanded down to the metal and was
carefully painted to match the original finish.
The bottom feet were
disassembled and the suede leather
bottoms were replaced with new.
The base ringer screen was carefully removed and cleaned
prior to painting the base.
The cloth line and handset cords are new high quality
replacements.
It will  plug into today's modern phone lines.
The switch hook contacts were cleaned with the original
Bell
Telephone
Seal Bond Paper specially designed f
or this purpose.
The contacts were then burnished with original Bell Telephone
equipment.
The dual bells and internal parts were cleaned and polished.
Wiring
was done according to original Bell Telephone diagrams.
The phone is fully functional. The sound quality is excellent in
both transmitting and receiving.  The dual brass gongs give it
that old time sound.
All antique rotary phones require a traditional landline
for dialing
out.  If you have another type of phone
service, check with your provider as you may need
a pulse to tone converter to dial out. They can be
purchased on eBay and easily added to the end of
the phone line jack.
