    Description

RARE!  Here is an EARLY hand plastic Western Electric model 500 Desk Set.  What is so rare about a hard plastic 500?  This one has a handset that is made like a SOFT plastic handset, with the round date stamp and color code the only details typical of hard plastic handsets.  The caps, too are made like soft plastic caps, with 6 and 36 holes, respectively.  The shell, too, while hard plastic, has it's date stamped in red ink on the front inner edge instead of the round date stamp that hard plastic shells normally have.  The plastic is all yellowish white, but can probably be made snow-white again.  The base plate has rust around the feet, but it is not bad.  This phone is dated 11-59, the handset looks like 6-59, the receiver capsule is 10-27-59, the transmitter capsule is also 10-27-59, the C4A 4 wire ringer is dated 11-59, the 425B network is dated 11-59, the 7C dial assembly is dated 10-59, and the shell is dated 10-27-59.  Cords in good condition, with the line cord being about 10 feet.  This phone is in perfect working condition.  Speaking is good, hearing is good, ringing is good, and dialing is good.  Use this phone as much as you like with no issues.
